Step 1: Choosing a search optionSuppose that you want to view fracture mechanics data for 1045 (USA / SAE).
Your first step is to choose a search option. The KEY to METALS search engine performs material searches by designation most efficiently through the Quick Search option.
|
|
Step 2: Defining search criteriaSimply enter the designation and select your country / standard.
All you have to do then is to simply click "search" button. In a few seconds the KEY to METALS search engine will find all materials, which have 1045 (USA / SAE) in their designation.

|
Step 3: Selecting the subgroupKEY to METALS will conveniently show all matching search results in subgroups. You can then simply select the material that interests you and view any of its properties by clicking on the relevant link.

To view fracture mechanics data, click on the link in the subgroup of your choice.

Step 4: Viewing fracture mechanics data
KEY to METALS will display a range of fracture mechanics data for the material and give you the option to select from a range of conditions by clicking on the drop down menu. Monotonic properties can be viewed along with K1C, KC, crack growth and Paris law parameters. KEY to METALS uses algorithms to predict fracture mechanics data for any missing values based on its monotonic properties.
