Step 1: To search for similar grades according to chemical composition only, the slider can be moved fully to the left and the submit button clicked. The results list will display all similar materials according to the selected similarity threshold and only according to chemical composition comparison.
Step 2: To search for similar grades using mechanical properties as the criteria for comparison, simply move the slider fully to the right before clicking submit. A comparison of yield and tensile data across all materials in the database will result in a list of candidates for comparison.
Step 3: The slider can then be moved to make a preference of either chemical composition or mechanical properties at whatever ‘weight’ is important to the user and the algorithm will create a list of possible similar candidates accordingly.
